The Southern Gospel Music Association held its spring Board Meeting yesterday at the Five Oaks Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, TN. The board discussed a number of important issues including the upcoming “SGMA Day” at Dollywood, October, 12. A formal announcement is forthcoming later this week as to who will be performing at this year’s event. The SGMA Membership trend continues on an upward spiral. Several groups are challenging other groups within the industry to a fund raiser for SGMA. Details will soon be posted on the website at www.sgma.org . Executive Director, Charlie Waller, explained to the board that Backyard Burgers in Benton, Arkansas will be having SGMA Day every 1st Thursday of each month. Archie and Brandon Donoho, are donating 10% of their gross sales that day to SGMA. Beginning the 3rd Thursday in May, the donations will include their store in Hot Springs as well and later may encompass their other three stores. Waller said, “On hand for the March and April days were members of CrossPoint of Benton as well as members and formers members of the Melody Boys Quartet of Little Rock. The Perry’s will be stopping in for the 3rd Thursday (May 18) in Hot Springs. I encourage any group traveling through these areas to stop in and visit, and thank them for their support.” SGMA needs your support! Please go to our website and find out ways that you can help.
